Trying Again
Earlier this month I let it be known that I would be happy to meet Billy Joel for lunch. This wasn’t just a whim, I had a good reason for it inviting Billy Joel to lunch, which you can read about here.
We’ll it’s been almost two weeks since I put this out there and I have heard nothing from Billy or his people. I realize that he is a busy man but I saw yesterday that Billy Joel had changed his Facebook status to “Hungry” so I figured now is the time to once again let him know that I am available.
Dear Billy Joel,
I hope this note finds you well. A few weeks ago I mentioned that if you were interested, I would be happy to meet you for lunch. Well it’s been two weeks and I haven’t heard anything from you. This may be my fault for two reasons. First I gave the impression that I didn’t like your music. Well I’m coming around on that. I’m now six weeks into a year of listening to your records and I think a lot of it is great. Second I was wrong to push sandwiches as a dining option because I don’t know how you feel about sandwiches. With this in mind I’m going to sweeten the offer a little bit.
Okay, here goes. You, Billy Joel should meet me for lunch. AND You can pick the place. It can be a nice place but nothing too expensive, I don’t have a lot of money. Also I don’t eat seafood but we can work around this.
I’ll still pay my own way because I’m not doing this Year of Billy Joel thing just to get some free food.
All you need to do now is to let me know when you are available. Please email me at ayearofbillyjoel@gmail.com so we can arrange this. Remember to include LUNCH PLANS in the subject line so I don’t miss it.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Will
I still think this is going to work,
